University of Pretoria Virtual Tour

ThoughtCorp showcases the University of Pretoria through a virtual tour

What better way to discover everything you need to know about a prospective University than to embark on a virtual tour of its campus, from the comfort of your own home or office?

Sound too good to be true? It isn’t… This is exactly what ThoughtCorp has built for the University of Pretoria, at http://www.virtualcampus.up.ac.za. In addition to being able to access 360-degree panoramas, videos and other course-related, relevant information, users can either browse the University at their leisure or can enjoy a personalised tour of the campus when they enter their preferred degree or profession. A customised page displays a summary of what the University offers, with a link to panoramas of any one of the nine faculties. Users are able to navigate between panoramas via a menu, hotspots within panoramas, or via campus maps with hotspots to each faculty.

In building the virtual tour, ThoughtCorp was instrumental in defining the University’s requirements and strategy; researching international trends in this space and evaluating the global benchmark; designing the user interface; shooting over 100 panoramas; collaborating with photographers and videographers to showcase the 600 photos and 50 videos used; and developing the final website with a content management facility to update all content.
